Discipline, Flow, and the Holy Ghost

In the end, when you finally get to the place of being and doing and having and having walked through alllllll of what you were pedestaling for your 'one day' life, and you sit around and realise you're actually there, you can now do ANYTHING, anything at all, ain't NOBODY on earth who can tell you what to do and it's all just down to what is actually true, do you know what you're still gonna see, staring you right down and into the depthiest-depths of your soul?

Yeah. It's discipline.

The need for it.

The holy REQUIREMENT for it.

And dare I say, and you KNOW I'm right here, the DESIRE for it, from you.

I know you thought that once you're all sorted with the money. The following. The clarity. The dream lifestyle and life. The fam-bam all on track. The eternity assured and the faith and the confidence that you really did come here for a destiny and oh oh oh, it's happening (maybe put that first?). That you'd become a whole different person and be free free, free at last to truly fly. But you know what you're STILL gonna need and yes also WANT?

Discipline.

Discipline to do the work.

To make today the day you show up as fully you.

To wait upon God for the thing.

To pour OUT said thing.

To hand over on repeat all the you-bits which need surrendering and laying down.

To wait on the FIRE.

To BE that sanctified and walking talking epistle of the Lord!

Because here is where we are different, you and I.

From the entrepreneurs or leaders who are building a thing to get to an outcome, so that they can then go do or find the thing they were really born to do.

We're already DOING it.

Messy.

Raw.

Manic at times.

Just freaking WEIRD.

Turning in circles on ourselves more often than ever needs talking about.

Wondering who we even ARE, questioning and tearing down everything only to find when we're back in that still place in God that yep yep yep, it's the thing it always was. Still.

Starting again.

Starting again again.

BUT WE'RE DOING IT.

We're in the pursuit of destiny because we are the ones who have always believed in it.

Always known of it, even before we knew to know.

And also always known we are here to CARRY it, and to reflect to others, what Christ would have them see, receive, and be.

It's the identity of, well, true identity.

The simply being.

And the perpetual sweet yet oh so frustrating when we try to 'get' there rather than realise we just 'are' there, walk forward in what it always was and only CAN be, for a woman like you, and a woman like me.

We are the 'and then she just did' women.

The ones who were always gonna AND we did.

The 'make it easy, make it part of who you are, repeat women.

The ones who WANT to burn with a holy fire.

Who WANT everything that is not of God in us to be consumed.

Who WANT to be that walking offering.

Who BELIEVE we came here for purpose. For flow. And for being a vessel of faith which outpours and OVER flows.

Which means?

We are not the ones who are going to get ANY kind of place and finally realise we can now just 'be'.

>>> We were born to just be already. But the being also requires the doing. And the doing is as it's always been: stare down the barrel of resistance and what if and how, and do it anyway. Grace led.

What I'm trying to say to you is that whether or not you've already achieved or seen received 'all the things' you thought you were waiting on in order to be, or whether you ever do, you are STILL gonna have to get up each day and simply decide whether or not to be THAT all in version of you.

The yielded one.

The consumed one.

The accepts the assignment one.

The hands over her own will and way and let's it be a supernatural thing one!

Ya know?

This life is a life of wrestling.

It's a life of holy warfare.

I HOPE it's a life of working out your salvation with fear and trembling.

It's a life of being ever sanctified, ever laid on the altar again, ever perfected, ever burned burned burned to burn for Jesus.

It's a life of NEVER being 'done'.

Yet ALWAYS being 'there', in rest, in awe, in hope, in assurance, in eternal AND now salvation, in Christ.

I'm talking about life done RIGHT.

As God intended.

Yes it is a life of rest. But it's an active rest. In which you run and don't grow weary. You walk and don't get faint. You wait and are lifted up on eagles wings. You see and decree visions, and dreams, you prophecy. You exhort. You stand firm. You live with one foot in the world and your citizenship and outlook from heaven, COME WHAT MAY.

And maybe most of all -

YOU PRESS ON.

Meaning no.

You do not GET to the bit where you're 'done' and now you can sit around living a whole 'nother kind of life.

The fact that we in our humanness so often attach the wrestle and the pressing and the battling and the working out to earthly accomplishment and things we think we need to get to or procure is ... well, human.

But it DOESN'T MEAN THAT IN DROPPING THE PERPETUAL QUEST TO SUSTAIN OR SAVE OR POSITION YOURSELF YOU ALSO GET TO DROP THE PRESSING ON.

GORGEOUS.

I'VE ONLY BEEN SAYING IT THE ENTIRE TIME.

WE WERE MADE TO PUSH.

Aughhhhhh this is EXCITING!

We were BORN for the push. Born for it! Literally designed by God Himself for it!!

Isn't that just a RELIEF?

Don't you think?!

I find it SUCH a relief.

10 years ago, sitting on a train from Munich to Prague, I wrote a book called 'The Push'. (It's been published on Amazon since then. Might be still there, or I might have deleted it in my mass culling of my own work when I came back to God. Not sure!)

Can I tell you?

I was SO excited writing that book. It was such a yes in my soul. I KNEW it was true about who I am. About who WE are. That we are born to DRIVE, to GO, to FORGE, to INSIST.

To press on.

When I look back on that time in my life, I can say for sure that there was a wrong spirit behind how I was living, and therefore who I became. Because there IS no rest outside of God even when what the person is doing or seeking to be is true to their identity, there can only ever be a counterfeit produced. And it is one which is very weary-making.

For me this was always confusing.

Why did I know that I knew that I KNEW I was born for destiny, for purpose, and for calling forward the 1% within the 1%, those who were willing to go all in, into who they were, and yet it always felt like I was slightly off beat, even when I achieved so much?

Why did I KNOW I was born for the push, the GO, the PRESSING, yet there was always an undercurrent of 'this ain't it'?

And why on earth was I on and off again tired or done with all of it?!

I told myself it was because I must have it wrong.

Even when I wrote that book, I felt the judgement from myself and others about boldly proclaiming that yeah, some of us like the all in life! Some of us LIVE for that push!

I felt like it was wrong.

Like it was bad.

Like I was insisting on something that everybody in the whole entire world except US seemed to have ordained as NAUGHTY, and / or that the only reason anybody would do such a thing, live in such a way, act like that would be because ... they have to.

Allow me to tell you something which took me WAY too long to understand and accept about myself, and which is simple God written FACTS for you:

Some of us.

Were BORN.

FOR THE PUSH.

Some of us.

Contrary to what most experts and even many leaders or successful peoples say.

Would KEEP DOING IT EVEN IF WE DIDN'T HAVE TO.

How do I know?

Because I've always known.

And also?

Because by the grace of God I have lived without 'having to'.

I have certainly lived where I one million percent and THEN some felt like I 'have to', for financial or other reasons. Which is HARD and sucky and can feel endless and can make you question your own why, think that you're not really who you are at all; you just think you need to be.

Dance little puppet, dance ... !

But actually?

We WERE born for this dance.

We do NOT do it to get some place.

And you know what is harder than feeling like you have to attach your purpose to your security or sense of being?

Trying to live outside of simple acceptance that you are who God made you to be.

Now THAT is some hard stuff!

The truth is what you know deep down inside:

Even if you didn't have to.

Even if your entire life were taken care of FOR your entire life.

Even if nobody was listening or watching.

Even if it was ONLY between God and you.

You.would.still.be.her.

And what a beautiful exhale that is, hey?!

The PUSH.

Carried.

Supernaturally.

As God intended.

By and for and to and through and from Him, and for His purposes.

But oh YEAHHHHHHH she's got her skates on and she is FLYING.

Now here is the fast-track.

And you can just take this and RUN with it.

Because this is where we are gonna DO the thing from a place of joy, joy, JOY of the Lord that we CAN.

NO we are not chasing outcomes.

NO we are not trying to make more money.

NO we are not figuring out JACK.

NO we are not working on our positioning. Or posturing. Or branding. Eck!

This is the ANTI-build your pretty little self an empire so you can sit on top of it and look back at where on earth you missed the bit that was actually you being God INTENDED you flying high on eagles wings HE placed you on.

ANTI making stuff happen.

ANTI getting ourself places.

ANTI doing what we do because we have to do it.

ALL THE YES YES YES AND AMEN ON BEING WHO WE CAME HERE TO BE BECAUSE WE CAME HERE TO BE IT.

Oh and that chick?

Yeah her business makes bank.

Her work is anointed.

Her message goes out supernaturally beyond places or peoples she's even heard of.

Her creativity and visioning is WILD.

She creates and creates and creates.

She receives and receives and receives!

She whirls and twirls and IS!

She is a literal OUTPOURING!

And the beauty and brilliance and overflow of the Lord! Do you see it?

She is in the dance and it is - literally! - a GLORIOUS thing!

SHE IS YOU!

And she is:

A worship.

A praise.

An enactment.

Of Jesus.

On earth.

In a LIFE.

Now LIVED.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

WE do what we do because it's what we do!

We do what we do because it's what we do!

We do what we do because - IT'S JUST WHAT WE CAME HERE TO DO!

So if you are ready to EMBRACE a thing.

And it is THE thing God put inside of you.

The FULLNESS.

The JOY.

The CRAZY in most everybody else's eyes.

DEFINITELY the too much. Too loud. Too INSISTENT.

The PRESSING FORWARD FOR ALL OF IT LIFE.

OH, how much easier it gets once you just decide to be the person.

The athlete.

The CEO.

The God-anointed leader woman!

The prayer warrior.

YOU JUST BEING THE ALL OF YOU GOD PLANTED IN YOU TO BE!

Wanna know what happens, when you decide, and then walk forward by faith in Christ IN that decision?

IT happens.

Because you became her in this earthly realm the moment you said yes, and meant it, with a peace and calm and confidence which can only come from God to say that even though you know it’s scary, and there’ll be moments (many!) when you don’t know how or don’t feel like it, you ARE now gonna just keep going.

ALL of this is about being who you were MADE to be!

She is joyous.

She is LOVING it over here!

So can we just put down the lie we somehow picked up that it’s a big ole bad scary thing we have to somehow discipline ourselves to being or getting to?

Discipline is SO FREAKING FUN! Discipline to just say yes in SPITE of fear or doubt. Discipline to walk over the line of ‘I don’t know how’. Discipline to ACT from faith!
