I want you to write a thing
"What thing God?"
A thing about time and space and love and me
(me: this sounds like I am making things up)
I want you to write what you SEE
when you look to me
"When I look to you God I feel certainty.
I feel trust.
I feel RELIEF.
I feel like I can BREATHE.
I feel -
But why do I struggle so MUCH at times Lord, to feel the faith I so desperately long for, and know EXISTS, in you?
Why does it feel so hard to access at times?
Why do I find myself flailing around again?
Off in my own way and will once more?
TRYING,
instead of being?
What I SAID was,
I want you to write what you SEE -
when you look at me.
I did not say I want you to write what you WISH you would see, when you do not look at me. When you refuse to look at me. When you don't have time to look at me. Or when you glance real quick at me, before getting on with your day.
I want you to write what you SEE -
when you look at me.
I want you to think about the line you have written for years now, in which you say "we see without eyes,
and pluck dreams from the skies".
You wrote that line before you fully gave yourself to me,
but yet I planted that IN you
as I have planted in you ALL supernatural truth which you have known,
shown,
taught,
and seen.
And where have you seen it?
Where IS it?
It is in the place where you see without eyes.
So what do you SEE child,
when you look at me?
and,
okay.
EXHALE.
"I see my Father.
I see myself relaxing, my shoulders dropping, the burden falling away.
I see myself almost falling,
so heavy was the weight I was carrying,
the frame I had made for myself,
the RIGIDITY,
with which I lived.
I see myself RUNNING,
light
happy
joyous
and free
into the arms of He who CREATED me.
I see that there is a dance together God, you and me.
Every day a new dance and "LOOK - !" "See what we will do today!"
As you show me
the way it should be.
I see myself exploring. Time abounding. Space unlimited. Love endless, and beyond all knowing. Love as an IS, a state of being, and environment,
as I rest IN the work
the play
the creating
the art
the wonder
and joy
of what you give to me.
IN WHICH I DANCE WITH THEE."
So why then,
do you not choose this?
When you see so clearly that when you turn to me,
fully come to me,
give it all to me,
pick up your cross daily and FOLLOW me,
I WILL make the way
and FURNISH IT BOUNTIFULLY
you will REST in certainty
assuredness
and the knowing
you're on path
the very things you have craved
chased endlessly
and pursued
instead of me
you SEE them there
and yes you believe
yet you do not choose
to only look at me
"Because I am scared God.
I don't know how God.
And I suppose most of all ...
because I listen to the lies that I can't,
don't have time,
shouldn't take my eyes off my DOING,
just in case."
Then it is a discipline thing?
"No God.
I mean sure - discipline is part of it. JUST WALK IN TO YOUR PRESENCE, NO MATTER WHAT.
But actually -
it is a faith and a commitment thing.
It is:
AND THEN SHE JUST DID."
So then child -
why not make today -
AND THEN SHE JUST DID?
FAITH,
ON THE EDGE,
A WAY OF BEING,
NO LONGER AN OPTION,
BUT SIMPLY,
HOW IT IS.
"Okay God".
AND THEN I JUST DID.
Can I tell you something? Will I?
There are times I am so tired of the endless surrender, the endless yielding, the perpetual not knowing, the PUSH I feel within me,
to find firm ground my SELF.
When I look to my mind I try to argue and reason and find a logical path, one which 'should' work and 'maybe I can just follow it and finally be done here!'
When I look to my emotions I alternately want to do EVERYTHING, or NOTHING.
When I look to God,
there is a moment which inevitably arrives in which there are no more questions and simply:
Do THIS.
Or NO.
Do that.
Or SLOW,
and wait,
and watch
as I work.
And through all of it, always, when I am IN Him?
The whole entire thing is the FLOW
I ran after
my whole life
not realising that the faster I ran to grab hold of an idea in my head, and a knowing in my spirit, of what should BE,
the more it evaded and eluded me
without HE.
"When you look to me, what do you see?"
God,
I see me the way you DESIGNED me to be
and the relinquishing of everything I tried to form it to be.
And now there is this.
FAITH,
on the edge.
A new walk with the Lord,
in which He reveals how to live in and also FROM Him,
when it feels as though everything is up in the air
you cannot afford to stop
you don't know how to even if you could
and you long to simply TRUST
yet can't.
This is where we SEE
without eyes
where we KNOW
beyond sight
where we HEAR
what makes no sense
yet is a resounding YES
in our truest and most let go in Him self.
Have you been fighting SO so hard to surrender?
